Paul Heckingbottom faced the press after a disappointing defeat in the Championship to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, and Leeds fans turned on him afterwards.

The game at Elland Road was one that Leeds should have won, but instead they lost to a late sucker punch after Jay-Roy Grot had brought them level.

Heckingbottom cut a desolate figure afterwards and highlighted some poor decisions, while defending the effort his players had put in.

Asked for his thoughts on the game, as quoted by the official Leeds site, Heckingbottom said, “Disappointing.

“It’s a game… I sound like a broken record at the minute. The last couple of games I should be coming in highlighting players and saying why we’ve won the game.

“Instead I’m not, I’m going mad at reasons why we’ve lost the game. It’s nothing to do with a lack of effort from the players, or a lack of drive, it’s poor decisions at the wrong time.”

Leeds fans are starting to turn on their manager though.

He didn’t have a great record when he joined, with former side Barnsley struggling at the bottom of the Championship.

And he hasn’t got a good record at Leeds, with just one win against Brentford in almost two months.

Fans took to Twitter to criticise Heckingbottom after his latest comments and their words don’t make good reading for the Leeds manager.
