'Give us hope', 'Lightning quick' - Leeds fans rave as first team revelation issues Twitter message

Leeds United fans have been left raving after first team revelation Bailey Peacock-Farrell issued a message of thanks after being named the club’s young player of the year this season.

The 21-year-old shot stopper endured a difficult start to the season as he found himself stuck behind summer signings Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan in the senior pecking order, heading out on an unsuccessful month-long loan spell to National League side York City in October.

However, after the unimpressive performances from the more experienced options at his disposal, manager Paul Heckingbottom chose to hand the youngster his first senior outing in almost two years at the beginning of March, and he has retained his spot in the starting XI ever since, going on to make 10 appearances.

His impressive performances between the sticks earned him the young player of the year honour at the club’s award night on Monday, and he took to his personal Twitter account to reveal his delight as well as his hopes for a bright end to a disappointing season.

His award win went down a storm with the Elland Road faithful, many of which named Peacock-Farrell as one of a few bright points during a campaign which has failed to live up to expectation.
