Leeds fans react angrily as 26-year-old is omitted from PFA team of the year

By Matt Bullin

Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to express their anger after Pontus Jansson was left out of the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

Jansson has been a revelation in Leeds’ side this season and has become a key performer since his arrival on loan from Torino.

The Swede has made 34 appearances in all competitions, as well as scoring three goals and making three assists.

However his performances were not enough to earn himself a place in the Team of the Year, as Newcastle’s Jamaal Lascelles and Brighton’s Lewis Dunk instead occupy the two centre-back places.

The only Leeds player to make the cut was star striker Chris Wood, who has netted 25 goals in the Championship this term.

The team is made up of four Brighton players, three Newcastle players, two Fulham players, while Leeds and Huddersfield have one player named apiece.

Jansson has been subject to much speculation in recent weeks, with a number of Premier League clubs reportedly showing an interest in acquiring his services, although Adam Pope did claim that the 26-year-old is loyal to the Whites.

Leeds fans will be hoping their club can hold onto Jansson, but first they took to Twitter to show their dismay at his omission from the PFA Team of the Year.
