Leeds have confirmed the loan signing of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson from Manchester United – and supporters on Twitter are on the whole pleased with the deal.
The Whites announced on their official website on Monday that the 20-year-old has been snapped up on a season-long basis by the Whites, who are in desperate need of extra bodies in defence after Gaetano Berardi and Matthew Pennington both picked up injuries in the Championship opener against Bolton on Sunday.
Although Thomas Christiansen saw his side win 3-2, he has been left sweating over the fitness of his makeshift left-back and one of his two centre-back options for Wednesday’s League Cup clash with Port Vale.
However defender Bortwick-Jackson can play at both left-back and in the centre of defence, and could make his debut against the League Two side just a couple of days after his move to Elland Road was confirmed.
Leeds fans have been crying out for defensive reinforcements for most of the summer and now that Christiansen has bagged Borthwick-Jackson from Man United, the mood has definitely been lifted among the support.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

You seem to be struggling to spell Bartley.

Sounds like a good signing, I wonder if there is a loan to buy clause in there somewhere. #LUFC

Borthwick-Jackson spent half of last season on loan with Wolves in the Championship, but he only made seven first-team appearances before he was sent back to Old Trafford.
It’s been a busy summer for Leeds and the capture of the England Under-20 international is yet another addition to the defence.
Centre-back Pennington has also joined on loan from Everton while Pontus Jansson made his switch to Elland Road permanent, as well as right-back Vurnon Anita.
In other Leeds news, Chrisiansen has delivered an injury update on Berardi and Pennington.
