Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has been handed his chance in the Manchester United senior team after graduating from the Academy set-up

Leeds United fans have delivered mixed verdicts to reports that Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has agreed to join on loan.

ESPN FC claim that the left-back, 20, is on the verge of completing a move to Elland Road for the 2017-18 season.

It is said that United manager Jose Mourinho has given the green light for Borthwick-Jackson to spend the campaign at the Championship promotion hopefuls to enable him to get regular senior playing time.

Leeds have been on the look-out for a new player on the left side of their defence after Charlie Taylor quit to join Burnley last month following the expiry of his contract.

The Elland Road faithful are not totally blown over by Borthwick’s imminent arrival, with some claiming him as fine piece of business, while others pointed out his wretched loan at Wolves last season.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Borthwick-Jackson broke into the United first team under the management of Louis van Gaal and made a big impression in the second half of 2015-16.

But the youngster has not played for the Premier League giants since Mourinho took the helm and was loaned out to Wolves last season, only to be recalled in March when the move turned sour.

In other Leeds United news, the Yorkshire giants have ramped up their interest in signing one of the best left-backs in the Championship.
