Leeds fans react on Twitter as club completes first January signing

By Matt Farr

Leeds have completed the signing of Pablo Hernandez from Al-Arabi, and fans on Twitter are delighted.

Hernandez had spent the first-half of the campaign on loan at the Championship club, but they confirmed on Monday afternoon that a permanent deal had been completed.

Leeds announced the deal on their official website, with Hernandez signing an initial six-month deal with an option for the club to extend his stay for another year.

The 31-year-old has been a central figure under Garry Monk this season, scoring three goals from 18 appearances.

The former Swansea midfielder is Leeds’ first signing of the January transfer window.

After hearing of the announcement, fans took to social media to express their delight at the transfer.

Here are some of their messages on Twitter:

Hernandez had previously played for Getafe, Valencia and Swansea on permanent deals before moving to Qatari outfit Al-Arabi in 2014. He was a member of the Swansea side that lifted the League Cup in 2013, a feat achieved prior to Garry Monk’s tenure as Swans boss.

The Spain midfielder could feature for Leeds on Monday when they take on Cambridge in the FA Cup third-round.

In other Leeds news, Stuart Dallas must prove himself against Cambridge to earn his place back in the first-team.
