Leeds fans react on Twitter to Brighton defeat at Nottingham Forest
By Alex Stevens
Brighton were thrashed 3-0 at Nottingham Forest on Saturday – and Leeds fans took to Twitter to claim their automatic promotion hopes are still alive.
The Seagulls’ shock defeat at the City Ground ended a wretched week in which they had also succumbed to defeat at Newcastle.
By contrast, Leeds won 3-1 at Birmingham on Friday night and, following Saturday’s results, were just seven points adrift of Brighton in the second automatic place.
Newcastle beat third-placed Huddersfield 3-1 at John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday evening to move five points clear at the Championship summit.
Rafael Benitez’s side appear uncatchable for Leeds with just 11 matches of the 46-game league campaign remaining, but Brighton could be reined in.

This has prompted confidence among the Elland Road faithful, who are increasingly hopeful their side can secure a top-two finish.

Leeds are fourth in the table with a haul of 64 points from 35 matches, just seven adrift of Brighton in second.
Huddersfield are third with 65 points, but can pull four points clear of Garry Monk’s side if they win their game in hand.
