Kyle Bartley has suffered another knee ligament injury – but Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to call on the club to continue with their reported pursuit.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that United are in talks to sign the Swansea City defender, 26, on a permanent deal this summer.
It is said that Leeds have turned to the centre-back who made such a big impression when they finished seventh in the league last season.
But the pursuit could now be in the balance after it was confirmed that Bartley has suffered a second knee problem in eight months after sitting out the first half of this season.
Speaking this morning, Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal said, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Kyle Bartley is more serious. He did a stretch in the ligaments and felt pain. We will see day by day.”
United fans are still keen for their club to sign Bartley even though he is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines, with one saying he’d be keen for the 6ft 4in ace even on one leg.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
We’ll definitely sign him then.

Got to pull out, IMO. Heart over head decision otherwise. 2 knee ligament injuries in succession is telling and can we afford to spunk so much of our budget on a player that’s going to a legitimate injury risk? Id love him back, but you need to step back sometimes and assess.

Agreed Andy 100% when fully fit & flying a top Championship player BUT can’t spent what will be 5-6 mill on a injured player

Even with one working leg he’d be an improvement for us.

I have faith that our stringent medical process will ok the player’s health.

The 26-year-old played 45 out of 46 league matches under Garry Monk, starting them all, in the club’s equal best league campaign since their Premier League days.
The cost of buying him will be more prohibitive for Leeds now than it at this point last year, as he signed a four-year contract with the Welsh outfit last August that runs until the summer of 2021, and which Sportrac is worth £1.5million-a-year, equivalent to £28,000-a-week.
