Leeds United fans have taken to social media to react to news that the club have secured the signing of teenage striker Ryan Edmonson from York City.

The Whites confirmed the deal for the 16-year-old forward via both their official Twitter account as well as on their official website, with it being revealed he has signed a deal which will commit him to the club until 2020.

While many of the Leeds faithful were supportive of the exciting youngster’s move to Elland Road, wishing him luck and success at the club, there was also a sense of sarcasm floating around Twitter from fans, suggesting he could be the man to rescue Thomas Christiansen from the club’s current plight.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

Leeds currently find themselves on an abysmal run of form, with seven defeats in their last nine league outings, which has seen them drop from table toppers to 10th in England’s second tier.

They play host to Middlesbrough on Sunday, which will mark the return of former boss Garry Monk for the first time since leaving over summer, and will be hoping to close the 12 point gap between themselves and league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, who they will face up against next Wednesday.
