'Will only improve', 'Yet to see the best' - Leeds fans rave over top flight transfer talks
Leeds United fans have turned to social media to rave over news that the club have begun talks with Everton over the permanent signing of defender Matthew Pennington.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Thursday that the Whites had opened discussions with the Premier League side over turning the 23-year-old’s season-long loan spell into a permanent deal, having joined the Championship club back in the summer transfer window.
He has impressed Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen with his performances this season, having turned out nine times for the Whites, and has been a regular among the first team squad, even if he has not been playing.
The versatile defender, who is a natural centre back but can also operate on the right of the defence, also appears to have impressed the Leeds faithful, as they took to Twitter to voice their delight at news of talks opening for his signing.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

Would be a good deal to make a perm though. He will only improve.

He's had limited game time but played well, except 1 game. Would be a good signing. #lufc

That doesn’t make it pointless.. that would make it a good deal

He's been a good signing minus that Sheff Utd performance.
Bartley was a Monk signing and he said openly that he wouldn't come back if Monk left.

Would not be completely against signing Pennington permanently. As long as his asking fee is under £700k

Pennington, who is a graduate of the youth system at Goodison Park, has turned out seven times for the Toffees since breaking into the senior squad, scoring his one and only goal for his parent club in the 3-1 defeat to fierce rivals Liverpool at the start of 2017.

His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2018, leaving his immediate future up in the air.
In other Leeds United news, this fringe figure is set for the axe from the senior squad at Elland Road.
