Leeds fans react on Twitter to Jansson performance against Aston Villa

By Emma Sanders

Leeds fans reacted with delight on Twitter after Pontus Jansson produced another excellent display during their team’s 1-1 league draw against Aston Villa on Thursday evening.

The centre-back put Garry Monk’s side in front after 54 minutes to record his second Championship goal of the season and he was one of their best performers on the night.

Leeds were hoping to record their fourth straight victory but a tough fixture against Villa awaited them and Steve Bruce’s side did enough to come away with a point.

Jonathan Kodjia’s late spot-kick earned Villa a draw but fans were still pleased with Jansson’s performance and they urged the club to get him signed on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old is usually paired with Kyle Bartley in defence and the duo have been excellent for Leeds this season, helping them reached fourth spot in the Championship table.

However, Bartley was ruled out of the clash just hours before kick-off and Liam Cooper was named as his replacement at centre-back alongside Jansson.

Cooper produced a nervy display but Jansson was full of composure and provided the Leeds back four with solidity and leadership, as well as scoring the all-important goal.

He is currently on loan from Torino but it is unclear whether he will remain at Elland Road when his loan agreement expires despite reports he will sign for a fee of £3.6million when he has played 20 matches.
