Leeds fans react on Twitter as Pontus Jansson named Championship POTM

Leeds fans reacted with excitement on Twitter after Pontus Jansson was named the Fans’ Championship Player of the Month for his performances in December.

Jansson has been a huge part of the Leeds team that has been in sparkling form recently, with four wins and a draw from their last five Championship games.

The Professional Footballers’ Association announced the award on their official Twitter account on Thursday and Leeds sent a message of congratulations to the defender from their official account.

The centre-back has been sensational since joining Leeds on loan in the summer and he is expected to sign a long-term deal with the club as speculation surrounding his future continues to grow.

The 25-year-old has already made 19 appearances for Leeds in the Championship and started the last game which was a 3-0 victory against Rotherham on Monday.

He was man of the match and scored a crucial goal in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa last month and he also netted in the 3-2 victory against Norwich in November.

Jansson has formed a terrific partnership with Kyle Bartley in defence and he is considered by many Leeds fans to be one of the best players in the squad.

The on-loan Torino star has been a key member of the first team as Garry Monk’s side have climbed up to fifth place in the Championship table. Fans will be hoping a permanent deal is announced soon.
