Leeds fans react on Twitter to Luke Ayling's display against former side

By Will Butcher

Leeds fans have questioned Luke Ayling’s performance on Twitter after the defender was out of position for Marlon Pack’s winner.

Ayling was caught out as Lee Tomlin drove forward with the ball before teeing up Bristol City captain Pack to finish into the roof of the net.

Leeds’ number two, who signed for the Yorkshire giants from City in August for £750,000, has hit the ground running at Elland Road by making the right-back slot his own in the absence of Switzerland international Gaetano Berardi.

However, the former Arsenal youth player’s position could be under threat after being at fault for the goal with Berardi close to a recovery from a long-term hamstring problem.

Fans were disappointed on Twitter with their new signing, with many claiming that manager Garry Monk should look at bringing in Lewie Coyle or Berardi in place of the 25-year-old.

The former Yeovil defender has been in good form for the Yorkshire giants this season, with Garry Monk opting to choose him ahead of Coyle for nine of Leeds Championship fixtures.

Tuesday night’s loss means the end of Leeds four-match winning streak, and Monk will be looking to increase morale before Saturday as they aim to generate some momentum before the international break.

They face Yorkshire rivals Barnsley at Elland Road, who have been performing above all expectations and find themselves in 10th place.
