'Impact sub', 'Sort the defence' - Leeds fans react to reported u-turn in pursuit of PL winger

By Danny Wright

Leeds have reportedly re-entered the race to sign Liverpool winger Ryan Kent – and fans on Twitter are encouraged by the news.

Sun reporter Alan Nixon claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that the Whites have made a u-turn in their pursuit of the 20-year-old after a report from the Sun in May claimed that they had pulled out of the running.

Kent spent last season on loan in Yorkshire with Paul Heckingbottom’s Barnsley side as he made 47 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and supplying three assists.

The young wide-man is yet to feature in a senior competitive game for Liverpool, but that hasn’t stopped the Leeds fans from getting excited about him potentially gracing the Elland Road pitch next season – although one supporter believes it’s more important to “sort the defence out” first.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

If Kent was to sign for the Whites, he could become Thomas Christiansen’s fifth summer recruit, following Mateusz Klich, Madger Gomes, Felix Wiedwald and Vurnon Anita in joining the Yorkshire giants.

As well as Barnsley, the England Under-20 international has also had a successful loan spell with Coventry, where he scored one goal and supplied one assist in 17 appearances.

In other Leeds news, the Whites are on the verge of signing up this Serie A forward.
