'Awful', 'Terrible' - Leeds fans tear into mainstay for performance in defeat v Brentford

By Danny Wright

Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to tear into Pontus Jansson for his performance against Brentford on Saturday evening.

Jansson, 26, failed to improve his form at Griffin Park as the Whites lost 3-1 to Dean Smith’s side in a game that saw plenty of defensive errors at both ends of the pitch..

The Sweden international constantly struggled against the home side’s attack and gave away a first-half penalty when he hauled down Neal Maupay with a rash challenge in the penalty area.

Luckily for the Whites mainstay, Ollie Watkins missed the resulting spot kick, blazing it well over the bar.

Jansson was in great form at the start of the season but has really struggled in the past couple of months, even though he has been handed a new contract in the middle of it.

Many fans are scratching their heads about the centre-back’s form, with some being less than kind to their former favourite on Twitter.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Jansson has made 13 appearances across all competitions for Leeds this season but has not been on a winning side since the 2-0 victory against Birmingham in mid-September.

He missed the win over Ipswich through injury and was axed when the Whites went to Bristol City for what was one of their best performances of the season.

Could Thomas Christiansen decide to axe the Sweden international once more after the international break? Matthew Pennington will no doubt be waiting in the wings.
