Leeds have a 'big, big problem' after Meslier reveal - pundit
Leeds United need to sort out their defence and stop heaping pressure on Illan Meslier, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Leeds lost yet another Premier League game at the weekend against West Ham.
According to sofascore, the Hammers had 20 attempts on the goal as they ran out 2-1 winners at Elland Road.
Meslier has now faced 39 shots on target in the league this term – no other team has faced more, as per FBRef.
“Leeds are in a situation where they’ve got defenders are out, West Ham had 20 shots against them, that’s worrying,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Every week teams are having lots of shots against them. Their goalkeeper is a good goalkeeper but he’s not going to be able to save them all.

“That’s the problem with Leeds. It’s a big, big problem. For me, if they don’t fix that problem teams will figure them out. Teams have worked out that if you work as hard as Leeds and you have better attacking players than them you will win the game and that’s what happened.
“Will they beat the likes of Wolves? A Burnley? I think they will in the games they’ve got left.
“But they need to work on their defending because that’s the issue. They’re just really open and I don’t like it.
“Sometimes you can hold your position, double up on players like Benrahma and Antonio. That’s what cost them and it was very naive.”
Illan Meslier has made the most saves of any Premier League goalkeeper (27) and has a 66.7 per cent save rate.
Leeds are currently third from bottom and are yet to record a league win.
