Leeds have chance to overturn four-year record as Scott Parker leaves relegated Burnley

Leeds United will welcome a managerless Burnley to Elland Road on Friday after Scott Parker mutually agreed to leave.

The Clarets have already been relegated from the Premier League, and will be led by interim manager Mike Jackson.

Leeds can go nine points clear of the relegation zone and all but safe if they secure three points on Friday, with Tottenham set to travel to Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Whites must still travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in May, and can secure safety with at least a draw.

Leeds’ recent form against Burnley has left much to be desired, but Daniel Farke will be confident ahead of the clash.

Leeds United struggled against Scott Parker

Thomas Bramall is set to take charge of Leeds’ clash with Burnley, with Farke having criticised him in the past.

But the German will hope that his side can keep Friday’s clash out of the referee’s hands, with the Whites hoping to overcome a different record.

Parker had been in charge of Burnley since the summer of 2024, with the Englishman leading his side to promotion alongside Leeds last season.

The Clarets were a thorn in the side of Farke’s side, earning four points from their two meetings, including the 1-0 win at Elland Road.

Even this season, Burnley have continued to get the better of Leeds. When they met in October at Turf Moor, goals from Lesley Ugochukwu and Loum Tchaouna secured a 2-0 win for the home side.

Leeds’ last win in clashes between the pair came in 2021, when Jack Harrison, Stuart Dallas and Dan James scored for Marcelo Biela’s side.

Michael Jackson should not be underestimated

Jackson has served as an interim manager for Burnley before. The 52-year-old took over in 2022 after Sean Dyche had been sacked.

The Clarets looked destined for relegation, but their interim boss gave them a fighting chance, winning three of his opening four Premier League games in charge.

But Burnley’s final four games saw them earn just one point, costing them and seeing them fall just three points short of 17th-placed Leeds.

Jackson may well be out for revenge on Friday, even if the Clarets have already learned their fate.
