Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe would be a brilliant signing for Leeds United this summer.

The word on the Continent is that a United deal for the Olympiakos central midfielder is on the cards following recent events.

Russian website Championat claim that the Yorkshire giants have leapfrogged Russian side Kransodar in the race to land the 29-year-old Belgium international.

It is said that Greek big hitters Olympiakos are willing to let him leave even though they only signed him from Legia Warsaw last summer.

Odjidja-Ofoe would add a new dimension to a Leeds side that has looked bereft of ideas and class in central midfield for most of this season, with only January signing Adam Forshaw proving consistent quality in that position.

Forget the Belgian's mixed spell at Norwich City, which included a bizarre short-term loan at Rotherham.

Mohamed Salah has brilliantly demonstrated that you are allowed to flop or disappear at your first English club only to thrive spectacularly at another. Kevin De Bruyne did the same.

Any player who has earned two Belgium caps, as Odjidja-Ofoe has, during a golden era of players for the national team demands respect.

The versatile midfielder, who can play in both a defensive and offensive role, has been a regular for Olympiakos this season, making 28 appearances across all competitions, including appearing in all six of their Champions League matches.

Odjidja-Ofoe started all but one of those clashes in Europe's elite competition and scored against Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.

Would he be better on an initial loan deal, as has been touted?

That's certainly a possibility and could provide a smart solution while both parties get to know each other.

It could be the best bit of business Leeds do this summer.
