Sweden international Pontus Jansson is set to miss Leeds’ EFL Cup third round clash against Blackburn due to an illness, according to a reliable journalist.
The on-loan centre-back was a rock at the heart of the defence during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Cardiff, as he made 10 more clearances than any other player on the pitch and was named in WhoScored’s Championship Team of the Week for his superb display.
But Yorkshire Evening Post’s Chief Football Writer Phil Hay revealed on his personal Twitter account that Jansson was unavailable to feature against Blackburn.
He said that Liam Cooper would replace Jansson and partner Kyle Bartley in central defence.
Bit of early team news – hearing that Pontus Jansson has been struggling with illness. Cooper and Bartley likely to start at CB. #lufc

Cooper has been ousted from the Leeds side by Jansson and Kyle Bartley recently, despite being one of the contenders to be named as captain of the Yorkshire giants when Sol Bamba quit a day after the transfer window closed.
Leeds will welcome Owen Coyle’s Blackburn for the second time in a week to Elland Road, after beating the strugglers 2-1 last week in the league.
However, the Lancashire side will be in buoyant mood after winning their first Championship game of the season against Rotherham 4-2 after superb displays from Sam Gallagher and Craig Conway.
A win for Garry Monk’s side would be their third in a row after Saturday’s 2-0 triumph, and are favourites to book themselves in the fourth round with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham all expected to join them.
