Leeds join hunt for prolific striker with 21 goals this season for English club - report
Leeds United have joined the hunt to sign Peterborough striker Jack Marriott, according to a report.
News outlet ClubCall claims that Leeds are also interested in his team-mate Marcus Maddison after sending a scout to watch the Posh win 3-1 against Bradford on Boxing Day.
It is understood that Aston Villa and Sunderland are also interested in Marriott, 23, who has been on prolific form this season by scoring a stunning 21 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions for the English League One club.
Maddison, 24, has been in equally as good form and has struck up a brilliant partnership with Marriott.
The former Newcastle and Gateshead player has netted nine goals and supplied a staggering 18 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.
It’s no surprise that Leeds would be interested in the pair who have found it easy to get among the goals this season when their current attacking options have struggled to find a similar consistency.

Football Insider verdict
Leeds could really do with a new striker in January because their summer signings have failed to meet the mark expected. Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Jay-Roy Grot’s poor form has led to Kemar Roofe being used as Thomas Christiansen’s go-to man up front in recent weeks and the ex-West Brom forward can be too inconsistent at times. Marriott would be a top signing for Leeds but Peterborough may not want to sell him as it could dismantle their push for promotion back to the Championship. The Whites may have quite a bit of money to spend though from what they didn’t use in the summer when Chris Wood was sold.
In other Leeds United news, this Whites defender has confirmed that he wants to leave Elland Road and will hold talks with his agent despite only signing for the club earlier this year.
