Leeds take duo on trial from PL giants - Insider

By Harvey Byrne

Leeds have taken teenage full-back duo Kris Owens and Diego Lattie on trial from Premier League giants Liverpool, according to an Elland Road insider.

The unofficial Leeds United Academy Twitter account has claimed that left-back Owens, 18, and right-back Lattie, 17, were both on show in Tuesday evening’s friendly clash against Ossett Town in an attempt to earn a contract.

Leeds beat Ossett Town 4-1 with Kun scoring twice alongside a single Jack McKay strike and  an own goal.

Despite, neither Owens or Lattie getting on the score sheet they will have been happy to end up on the winning side and thus avoiding an embarrassing defeat on their night to impress.

Leeds have pumped a lot of money into their academy since Andrea Radrizzani took over earlier in the summer with Madger Gomes having already joined from Liverpool, while Alejandro Machuca, Adrian Balboa and Oriol Rey are also alongside the names having made the switch over to the north of England.

Both Owens and Lattie will now be hoping to join the list of names as the pair look to push into a professional career.

Football Insider verdict:

Taking both Owens and Lattie on trial is the right move for Leeds as they look to cast their eye over more youngsters to add to their already productive academy. Moves like this show that those making the decisions have the future of the club firmly in their mind and fans will be happy to see such moves take place. Now, little is known of Owens and Lattie, but they have both previously shown enough to find their way onto the books of Liverpool, which most can only dream of. There is no guarantee that either will become a success, or even sign for Leeds in the future, but fans will be keen to see what develops for now.
