Leeds tipped to agree record-breaking Phillips deal after confirmed update
Kevin Phillips has tipped Leeds United to hand Kalvin Phillips a record-breaking contract amid talks over a new deal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Sunderland striker claimed the 25-year-old would become the “biggest earner of all time” at Elland Road.
As revealed by Football Insider last month (16th September), Leeds have opened discussions with the midfielder over a new and improved deal.
His current contract, signed back in 2019, runs until the summer of 2024.
However, Leeds are keen to reward the homegrown star after establishing himself as a star both in the Premier League and for England.
Phillips’ agent, Kevin Sharp, told the Telegraph there is “willingness from both sides” to strike a deal.

He insisted he could only see a “positive outcome” from talks.
Kevin Phillips admitted his namesake deserves to be among the top earners not only at Leeds but in the Premier League.
Asked if he thought a new deal would be the biggest in Leeds’ history, the former striker told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs: “I think it would have to be.
“Getting him on a long-term contract, getting him among the highest earners in the Premier League, is a priority for Leeds.
“Who else in that squad demands the biggest earner of all time? It has to be Phillips.
“England international, top player. Unfortunately, from Leeds’ point of view, it’s going to cost them a few quid. You’ve got to keep hold of your best players.”
Phillips has played over 200 games for Leeds since breaking through the youth ranks at Elland Road.
He has also made 17 appearances for England after making his debut in 2020.
