Alex McLeish has predicted Leeds United to hit the jackpot as sponsors will be falling over themselves to offer mega-money deals.
The former Aston Villa manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested top figures in broadcasting and beyond would be “bending over backwards” to support Leeds in the Premier League.
Whites owner Andrea Radrizzani has already welcomed additional funding this season after the San Francisco 49ers increased their ownership stake.
Leeds have been heralded by fans and pundits for their entertaining brand of football since returning to the top flight.
As such, McLeish has suggested there could be some big-money sponsorship deals waiting at the end of the campaign.
“I see if Leeds get stronger, if they cement themselves in the Premier League this season, then there’s another tranche of money,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“Sponsorship guys go will go absolutely off their heads in terms of offering Leeds everything and, of course, the Premier League money and the sponsorship money from the Premier League and Sky and, you know, BT Sport.
“All the top TV people will be bending over backwards to support Leeds.
“As they get stronger in the Premier League, Bielsa will get more money. Then he’ll be able to bring in the best players to fit into his system.”
Leeds’ return to the Premier League saw a record-breaking kit deal agreed with German sportswear giants Adidas.
The Whites also signed a sponsorship agreement with SBOTOP said to be the “biggest commercial deal” in the club’s history.
