Kyle Lafferty is set to join Leeds on loan from Norwich next week, Football Insider sources understand.

The Canaries blocked Lafferty's proposed loan to Elland Road in last month's transfer window because the Premier League club wanted a permanent deal.

But a source close to the situation has told Football Insider that Norwich have relented after no bids came in for the 28-year-old Northern Ireland international, who is surplus to requirements at Carrow Road.

Lafferty has made only three appearances for Norwich this season, and he has been pushed further down the pecking order following the signings of Steven Naismith from Everton and Patrick Bamford on loan from Chelsea.

The emergency loan window opens next Tuesday, allowing Football League clubs to recruit new signings up until it shuts on 24 March.

Premier League clubs cannot buy new players but are allowed to loan out their players to lower league outfits.
