Ainsley Maitland-Niles could be a great signing for Leeds United as he has many qualities Marcelo Bielsa is looking for.
That’s according to former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Maitland-Niles’ future.
The Mirror claim Leeds are one of several Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Maitland-Niles from Arsenal this summer.
Maitland-Niles, 23, left Arsenal on a temporary basis in January seeking first team football in his preferred midfield role after being deployed mainly as a wing back by Mikel Arteta.
Sam Allardyce was able to offer Maitland-Niles the chance to play in midfield and he has since made 10 appearances in that position for West Brom.
Campbell insists that Maitland-Niles could fit into the current Leeds side and that his versatility will be something Bielsa likes.
“I think he is definitely someone who could fit into that team,” Campbell told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“He has good energy, a good engine and a lot of ability on the ball. The other big plus is that he can play in multiple positions, which we know Bielsa likes.
“I think that could be a great signing for Leeds.”
Maitland-Niles won a first half penalty in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa and proved to be a nuisance for the defence all evening.
Just hours earlier, Leeds drew 0-0 with Manchester United in a game that lacked clear cut chances but moved the club up to ninth in the Premier League following Arsenal’s loss on Friday night.
