Phillips impressed by 'really good' midfielder on Leeds radar after Orta confession
Okay Yokuslu would be an excellent replacement for Kalvin Phillips if Leeds United are forced to offload the midfielder leave in the future.
So says ex-West Brom hitman Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Victor Orta admitted he is a fan of the Turk.
Speaking to Spanish radio station Ao Contraataque (via Leeds Live on 13th July), Leeds’ director of football said he “liked” Yokuslu’s six-month loan spell at West Brom.
He did, however, go on to admit that it would be “politically difficult” to prise the 27-year-old away from his parent club Celta Vigo.
Leeds and England midfielder Phillips, who is under contract until 2024, has been linked with elite clubs after a stellar season in 2020-21.
Ex-Sunderland striker Phillips insisted that Yokuslu, whose Celta deal runs until 2023, would be a quality replacement should Leeds sell their star man.

“I think he’s a really good player,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“It remains to be seen what happens with Kalvin. Let’s hope he stays, but if he was to leave then I think Yokuslu would be a good addition to the team.
“Could he bring what Phillips has done? There aren’t many out there who can.
“But with that being said, I think he would definitely be a good backup option for him if he does move on.”
Yokuslu featured 16 times for Albion last season but was unable to help them fight off relegation.
Phillips meanwhile played 29 times in the top-flight as Leeds finished in an impressive 9th place.
