Leeds United can prove trust in Daniel Farke with Mohamed Amoura deal after new Wolfsburg blow

Daniel Farke has demanded to be backed by the Leeds United hierarchy, and a move for Mohamed Amoura could be the best evidence.

The German has essentially given the owners an ultimatum ahead of the summer transfer window, but it is exactly the kind of attitude that could propel the club forward, rather than take another big step back.

So far, he has done an incredible job to keep the Whites in the Premier League, finishing the campaign on 47 points, as well as reaching an FA Cup semi-final. It shouldn’t just stop there, though.

Farke clearly wants to achieve so much more, and the level of Leeds’ transfer activity this summer could be the difference between more success and heading into a new season with a different manager.

Mohamed Amoura should be first through Elland Road doors

The manager has already felt the frustrations of not having enough support in a transfer window, having had to wait weeks for deals to be completed ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Even then, some of the signings were underwhelming. And while the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha impressed at Elland Road, supporters wanted more than free transfers up front.

Ahead of this summer window, Leeds are one of the teams strongly linked with Mohamed Amoura of Wolfsburg, and following the latest update from Germany, a deal might be much simpler than before.

Falling to a 2-1 defeat to Paderborn on Monday, 25 May, Wolfsburg have officially been relegated from the Bundesliga, and several stars, including Amoura, are expected to jump from the shrinking ship.

Could Daniel Farke really walk away from Leeds United?

Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Leeds are prepared to give Farke funds for a new centre-forward, and that money should be splashed on Amoura, despite a disappointing season for the Wolfsburg man.

The manager’s recent comments have been called out as “unnecessary,” but it is clear that he wants to stay with the Whites, only if he is given the platform to grow the team.

Paraag Marathe has suggested that another couple of “long-fought” seasons are ahead to cement their spot in the Premier League. Frustratingly, that’s unlikely to be music to Farke’s ears right now.

The only way that the hierarchy can prove their trust in the manager is by backing him in the market. Given the uncertainty around staying in the division, though, it remains to be seen how much money they’re willing to spend.
