Leeds United can sign their very own Bryan Mbeumo for just £17.5m
Leeds United fans will hate to admit it, but Bryan Mbeumo has lit up Old Trafford since his £71million move to Man United.
The winger has seven goals and one assist in his first 17 games, easing the pressure on Ruben Amorim’s future, and helping the Red Devils to sixth place in the Premier League.
Obviously, with such a big price tag attached to his name, supporters expected an instant impact following his move from Brentford, but his form has been dented by the club’s form.
Closest to him in terms of Premier League goal contributions at Elland Road is new signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with five so far, and the Whites could really use some reinforcements next month.

Leeds United prepare to sign Sevilla’s Ruben Vargas
Daniel Farke is already without Dan James, while Lukas Nmecha has missed the last two games through injury, with Sean Longstaff also out until the New Year.
If Leeds are to survive the threat of relegation this season, Farke will need as much help in the transfer window as he can get, but it might not be as expensive as many would expect.
According to Orgullo Biri (16 December), Leeds are preparing an offer of £17.5million (€20million) for Sevilla’s Ruben Vargas, who has notched three goals and four assists in 12 games this season.
Thanks to the La Liga side’s current financial situation, the Whites might be able to strike a deal. The player is seen as ideal for the Premier League, and his stats would suggest the same.
Daniel Farke’s target can be compared to Man United’s leading star
While Mbeumo has registered far more shots on target so far this season, Vargas takes aim half of the time, suggesting that he is much more meticulous with his efforts [FBref].
Again, slightly lower, but the Switzerland international creates just 0.43 fewer shot-creating actions than the Man United star. Yet, his goal-creating actions are 0.29 higher per 90 than Mbeumo’s.
In the defence third, the duo have completed a similar number of tackles, while Vargas boasts a higher take-on success rate in the final third. It is worth adding that Mbeumo has played almost twice the number of minutes.
There is absolutely no doubt that the 27-year-old would thrive at Elland Road, with fans quickly taking a liking to him, and he could be available for just £17.5m next month, if Sevilla cave to the offer.
