Leeds United will benefit from the Premier League's new overseas TV deals - and their final league position could supercharge their earnings.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the top-flight's merit-based distribution system.

As reported by SportsPro Media on Thursday (13 January), Futbo TV have won the rights to broadcast the competition in Canada from next season.

Per the same outlet on Friday (14 January), Paramount+ has secured the rights to stream the Premier League in Mexico and Central America.

Maguire explained that the Whites will see that figure depending on where they finish in the league this season.

"The Premier League set out new terms in 2019," he told Football Insider's Adam Williams.

"Now, 50 per cent is spread evenly and 50 per cent is spread on a merit basis. This was as a result of pressure put on the other clubs by the 'sneaky six'.

"Leeds will benefit if there is an increase. The higher up the table they finish, the more they will get.

"That's an incentive for them to continue their recovery. They won their last league game and I don't think they are going to go down."

Leeds United

Leeds finished 9th last season but are currently 16th in the league table.

Marcelo Bielsa's side face off against West Ham at the London Stadium tomorrow (16 January).
