Leeds 25-year-old named in Championship team of the year so far

By Emma Sanders

Pontus Jansson is the only Leeds player to be named in a Championship Team of the Year based on form, created by TalkSPORT.

The leading sports broadcaster have selected the best starting XI from the Championship so far on the performances of players in the opening 11 fixtures.

The 25 year-old has made a blistering start to life in England since joining Leeds on loan from Torino in the summer.

Jansson recently claimed he was surprised by the standard of football on display in the Championship in a Fotboll Skanelen podcast but he’s definitely not looked out of place.

The Swede has made seven appearances so far this season but has already improved Leeds’ defence and has warmed the fans of Elland Road.

He’s expected to start Leeds’ next fixture against Derby County after helping his side win five of the seven games he’s played in.

Jansson has been one of Leeds’ best players so far this season and is known for aerial presence and ability to sniff out trouble in open play.

He likes to build possession from the back too and is comfortable on the ball, recording an 85% passing accuracy so far this season.

In other Leeds news, Gary Monk has posted a message on Twitter ahead of their clash with Derby County.
