Leeds United dressing room fears raised after source's Stuart Dallas update - pundit

Alex McLeish has raised fears over the “strength and mentality” of the Leeds United squad after Stuart Dallas’ serious injury blow.

The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted losing the 31-year-old could impact his teammates behind the scenes.

As confirmed on Sunday (1 April), Dallas is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a femoral fracture.

A club source told Football Insider on Friday (6 May) the club fear the Northern Ireland international could miss all of next season with the injury worse than first feared.

McLeish admitted losing such an “integral” player could see heads drop in the Elland Road dressing room.

Asked how he thought the Leeds dressing room would react to Dallas’ blow, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “They can do two things. They can be saying: ‘We’ll do it for Stuart,’ or they could be: ‘Ugh, we’ve lost Stuart.’

“He’s integral to their success or relative success IE staying in the Premier League. You just don’t know what’s going through a player’s head, or teammates’ heads.

“Now we’ll see the strength and mentality, or not, of Leeds. The fact they lose quality guys from the team makes it much harder for them anyway.

“Who do you bring in? You don’t have a ready-made superstar there to come in and say: ‘Keep us up.’

“It is so vital the nucleus of your team are available.”

Dallas has played in every single Premier League game for Leeds since their promotion in 2021.

He has 267 appearances under his belt for the Whites.
