Leeds United edge closer to agreeing Ethan Ampadu deal
Leeds United are relaxed about Ethan Ampadu’s future and fully expect him to sign a new contract when the season ends, sources have told Football Insider.
Ampadu, who has a contract that runs until the summer of 2027, has been one of Daniel Farke’s most reliable performers throughout their return to the top flight.
Leeds are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal to reward his impressive showings in the Premier League and strong leadership skills as club captain.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Ampadu also wants to sign fresh terms at Elland Road and there is an expectation that a deal will be agreed soon.
Leeds’ finances are set to be boosted by their Premier League survival, with an expensive summer on the horizon as they look to push up the table with Ampadu playing a key role in midfield.

Ampadu has featured for more minutes than any other Leeds player in the Premier League this season, highlighting just how key he has been to their survival.
Farke has suggested that he is very keen to see the Welshman sign a new deal, and no hitches are expected before he pens fresh terms.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “There’s a willingness from all parties to get something sorted pretty soon and Ampadu is content and settled at Leeds.
“Leeds are more than happy with him, so I think all parties are relaxed in this one and I’m sure a new deal should be more than straightforward to get sorted out.”
Leeds also want to tie Pascal Struijk down to a new contract
Struijk and Ampadu are two of the Whites’ longest-serving players as it stands, with the Dutch defender also playing a huge part in their recent rise from the Championship under Farke.
He is also approaching the last year of his contract at Elland Road, with reported interest in his services ahead of the summer from Aston Villa and Tottenham.
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Farke does not want to lose Struijk as Leeds plan to hold contract talks when the season ends.
The Whites boss was outspoken about his lofty aims for the club in a press conference this week, so they are sure to prioritise a new deal for Struijk to keep him happy.
