Leeds United employee issues 'huge' Brenden Aaronson claim as new details emerge

Noel Whelan has identified Brenden Aaronson as the “standout” of the summer transfer business at Leeds United.

The former Whites striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed fellow arrivals Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have allowed the 21-year-old to “shine” with their tireless midfield work.

Aaronson, who arrived at Leeds United for a reported £27.7million in May, has registered one goal and one assist in six Premier League games thus far.

As per Sky Sports (9 September), the USA international ranks third-highest for average running speed (7.23km/h) of any top-flight player this term – with former coach Brenden Burke insisting he is in the “top 1% in the world” for persistent running.

According to FBRef, Aaronson has made the second-most pressures (49) in the final third this season – behind Chelsea’s Kai Havertz.

Whelan hailed the midfielders’ “great energy” and “very positive” influence.

He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think you’ve got to look at that midfield area.

“Roca has done a very understated job in there, he’s very much like Kalvin Phillips.

“Along with Tyler Adams, the two of them seem very comfortable on the ball and they are very aggressive in that midfield area.

“That has allowed the one player who has been a stand-out to really shine – and that is Brenden Aaronson.

“He’s very positive with huge energy, drives forward with great technical ability – and he’s got an eye for a pass too.

“Sinisterra hasn’t let anyone down by coming in to replace Raphinha, either, after watching his recent performances.”
