Leeds United employee shares 'exciting' Luis Sinisterra claim after 'mouth-watering' news

Noel Whelan has backed Luis Sinisterra to “very quickly” follow in the footsteps of Raphinha and become a “fan favourite” at Leeds United.

The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 23-year-old new boy looks like “someone who is going to get people off their seats”.

Leeds United announced the signing of Sinisterra on Thursday (8 July) – with the Feyenoord winger signing a five-year deal at Elland Road.

The five-time Colombia international notched 23 goals and 14 assists for the Europa Conference League winners during the 2021-22 season.

Fellow winger Raphinha has been linked with a move away from the Whites – and manager Jesse Marsch has told fans to “wait and see” as the Brazil star “urgently” seeks a solution to the uncertainty surrounding his future.

However, Whelan suggested Sinisterra could be a worthy replacement for the former Rennes man.

“He looks really exciting,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingbury.

“I’ve seen clips of him playing, I saw the Europa Conference League final as well – he’s a real player and someone who is going to get people off their seats.

“The goals he’s scoring, the pace, he’s exciting to watch – and that’s what the Leeds United fans want, especially if he is to come in and replace Raphinha.

“He looks a real mouth-watering prospect and someone who is going to open doors for us going forward.

“He will very quickly become a fan favourite if he can maintain that kind of form, just as Raphinha was soon after coming in.”

Sinisterra is Leeds United’s sixth summer signing.

Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Tyler Adams, Marc Roca, and Darko Gyabi have all also joined the club.
