Danny Mills is adamant Ben White “wants to stay” at Leeds United after Brighton confirmed that their defender would remain at Elland Road until the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Leeds and Manchester City full-back raved about the 22-year-old’s impact on Marcelo Bielsa’s side this side and thus earned the admiration of the fans.
White initially joined Leeds on loan until 30 June but the Brighton have extended that agreement by a month due to to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Championship has been suspended since mid-March but fixtures will recommence this weekend and culminate with the Play-Off final in the first week of August.
Seagulls boss Graham Potter confirmed that the centre-half will remain with the league leaders until the 2019/20 season has been completed.
When asked by Football Insider if it was a relief to get confirmation that White would stay, Mills said: “It is good new for Leeds but I always saw it happening.
“I think he is on the path to a great career.
“I am sure he wants to stay at Leeds. He has done a fantastic job and the fans love him.
“Why would you not want to finish the job and get promotion. Even if he went back to Brighton he would not be able to play due to the intricacies of the loan deal.”
Leeds are seven points clear of third-placed Fulham and the Play-Offs with nine games remaining.
A trip to Cardiff City on Sunday will be followed by a pivotal fixture against Fulham at Elland Road on Saturday 27 June.
