Kieran Maguire analyses 'easy win' as Man United force Leeds United into five-figure payout

Man United have forced Leeds United to cough up for extra seating for their clash on 20 February – an “easy win” for the PR department.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the recent spat between the north west rivals.

Per the Daily Mail on Wednesday (19 January), Man United were up in arms when they discovered they had only been offered 2,565 tickets for the clash.

The Red Devils had originally been promised 3,000, and it is understood that club chiefs brought the issue to the attention of the Premier League.

Leeds have now been forced to shell out £50,000 to remove a media studio in order to accommodate the extra 500 Man United away fans.

Maguire claimed that the ordeal has been an easy PR victory for the Old Trafford club.

“Getting hold of away tickets if you’re a Man United fan is difficult at the best of times,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“Having a restricted number of seats available is always going to cause a further challenge.

“This is an easy win for Man United. They can appeal to their fanbase because there is historically a very frosty relationship between the fans.

“This is a way of earning favour with them.

“It does seem a bit strange that Leeds have other games where they have 3,000 away fans.

“However, it could be that they need additional stewarding.

Man United were also reportedly incensed that Leeds were not going to offer concession for seniors.

The Red Devils triumphed 5-1 when the two sides met on the opening day of the season.
