Leeds United have joined the chase this month to sign Derby County midfielder Jason Knight, Football Insider can reveal.
The Yorkshire giants are also keen on his fellow 19-year-old and Derby teammate Louie Sibley.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider that both teen sensations are on the club’s radar for this month, although summer moves may be more likely.
West Ham and Burnley have been linked with interest in Knight, who has graduated from the club’s youth ranks to make 59 Derby senior appearances.
Knight is such a talent that he can play anywhere in central or attacking midfield and has started 21 of Derby’s 22 league matches this season.
Leeds were keen on Sibley last summer, as revealed by Football Insider.
They were pushing for a deal right up until the window closed in October but Derby were holding out for £10million for the teenager at the time.
Like Knight, Sibley can operate in a central midfield role or in a more advanced attacking midfield position.
Capped by England at Under-19 level, he is not quite as established in the Derby team as his fellow youngster.
Sibley has already played 34 times for Derby after graduating from their youth ranks.
Those matches have yielded an impressive five goals and four assists but he has been noticeably less productive this season after his breakthrough 2019-20 campaign.
Sibley has started five of Derby’s Championship games this season, and did not deliver his first assist of the campaign until the 4-0 thrashing of Birmingham City on 29 December.
