Liverpool attacker next most likely player to sign for Leeds - Football Whispers
By Harry Sykes
Liverpool winger Ryan Kent is the most likely to be the next Leeds United signing in the summer transfer window, according to a report.
Sky Sports’ transfer section regularly plugs its Football Whispers section, which claimed on Wednesday evening that the left winger is the likeliest Elland Road arrival following the 10 new signings already confirmed.
Most of the Leeds signings so far have been midfielders or attacking players, and the squad are lacking depth in defence following the exits of 2016-17 mainstays Kyle Bartley and Charlie Taylor.
But it has been reported in recent weeks that the Yorkshire giants retain their longstanding interest in signing Kent, 20, more likely on a loan than a permanent transfer.
Football Whispers, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, rates it 2.9 out of 5 that Kent will join Leeds, with five the highest possible ranking and meaning it is a certainty.
The attacker is ahead in the ratings of Bologna centre-back Filip Helander, who has a rating of 1.8, and Chelsea central midfielder Mario Pasalic, who is rated at 1.4 to transfer to Elland Road this summer.
Football Insider verdict:
What a loan signing Kent would be for Leeds. He showed while at Barnsley last season that he is a player of immense potential, even though his stats were not especially eye opening. A left-winger, he is mobile, pacy and tricky but must add a greater cutting edge to his game to be a consistent threat to top defences. Nevertheless, Kent is good and will get a lot better if he is given the playing time he needs at this crucial point in his career.
