Kenny gutted by confirmation of news about 'amazing' Klich at Leeds

Leeds United star Mateusz Klich is an “amazing” footballer and it is time for his talents and consistency to be truly recognised.

That is according to ex-Leeds goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Marcelo Bielsa revealed that Kilch would be allowed to miss the closing throes of the season.

The manager confirmed on Monday that Klich and Robin Koch had been “given early leave” ahead of this summer’s Euros.

Klich was absent from the matchday squad as Leeds beat Southampton 2-0 on Tuesday evening.

Remarkably, the 29-cap Poland midfielder has missed just three league matches throughout Bielsa’s three-season reign at Elland Road.

Kenny hailed the 30-year-old for his consistency, calling for his value to Leeds to be more widely acknowledged.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “His appearance record is absolutely amazing. He deserves more praise, definitely.

“Sometimes the players that you don’t talk about, they’re the consistent ones, the ones that play week in, week out.

“Bielsa knows what he’s going to get from a player like him. He will go under the radar because he is so consistent and he has done it for so long.

“He’s the type of player that if all of a sudden you notice they’re not there, his season over, you think: ‘Oh no’. That is just how important he is to the side.”

Leeds signed Klich from Dutch side FC Twente in June 2017.

He has gone on to make 142 appearances for the club, contributing 21 goals and 19 assists.
