Leeds United legend Liam Cooper is set to finally join CSKA Sofia in the coming hours after reaching a full agreement, sources have told Football Insider.

The 33-year-old is set to fly to Bulgaria and complete the transfer on Tuesday after passing his medical in England over the last few days.

The Scotland international has signed a two-year deal with Sofia after a move to Hull City fell through at the end of last month.

Cooper was one of 19 first-team players to leave the West Yorkshire club in the summer following their failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League last season.

The veteran defender made 284 appearances for Leeds during his nearly ten years at Elland Road, helping them earn promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years under Marcelo Bielsa.

It's been a tricky start to the season for Cooper's new club as they sit second from bottom after six games.

Leeds United, however, are on the up following two successive 2-0 victories against fellow Yorkshire sides Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City.

They next face freshly relegated Burnley at Elland Road in their first game back from the international break on Saturday, September 14th.
