Leeds United set for Kalvin Phillips boost after Man City update - pundit
Man City have the whole of planet football to choose from and will sign a better defensive midfielder than Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward claimed Phillips would “start for every team in the Premier League bar Man City”.
The Telegraph reported on Monday (30 May) that the 26-year-old is the number one midfield target to replace the outgoing Fernandinho.
It is also claimed Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella is one of a number of left-backs Pep Guardiola is looking at ahead of the summer window opening.
As quoted by the same outlet, chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak confirmed Man City will bring in more new players this summer after completing a deal for Erling Haaland.
“Kalvin Phillips starts in every team in the Premier League bar Man City,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He doesn’t get in before Rodri so I’m not sure he’s the answer there.
“I like Cucurella but Man City have the whole world to choose from. They’ve got so many options so they are going to get the best of the best.
“Is he the very best out there? I don’t think so. I’m sure there are better options that Man City are looking at.”
Phillips only started 18 Premier League games as Leeds narrowly avoided relegation last season as his campaign was plagued with injuries.
The 19-cap England international has a contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2024.
