Sources: Leeds United plot move to sign PSV star Philipp Max
Leeds United are plotting a move for PSV Eindhoven star Philipp Max, sources have told Football Insider.
The Yorkshire giants are keeping tabs on the Germany international, 29, as they weigh up interest in potential left-back targets.
Leeds are in the market for a new left-back in January who is capable of slotting straight into their starting XI.
It is believed that Max is among their targets due to his pedigree and potential availability in the upcoming window.
The three-times Germany cap is a star player for PSV and has a contract that runs until the summer of 2024.
But he is one of the Dutch club’s top earners, on a deal believed to be worth around £30,000-a-week, and they are facing financial problems going into the new year.

That kind of salary would not be a problem for a Premier League club like Leeds, where the star players are earning around £100,000-a-week.
Max is highly regarded as an attacking left-back with an impressive track record of scoring and creating goals in Holland as well as in his native Germany.
He has barely missed a game for PSV since joining from Augsburg in the summer of 2020, with his 114 matches for the club yielding eight goals and 20 assists.
Leeds have been forced to regularly use centre-back Pascal Struijk at left-back this season, with former Barcelona man Junior Firpo struggling for form and fitness.
