Sources: Multiple Championship clubs race to sign Adam Forshaw after Leeds United reveal

Multiple Championship clubs are interested in signing Leeds United star Adam Forshaw in January, sources have told Football Insider.

A promotion-chasing side are among those targeting a move in January for the central midfielder, 31, amid doubts over his Elland Road future.

Football Insider revealed last month that Leeds will listen to offers for Forshaw in January with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.

United have the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months, but that currently seems unlikely with Forshaw out of the side.

He has had just 47 minutes of Premier League action this season and has dropped to the fringes following the summer signings of Tyler Adams and Marc Roca.

Forshaw has been sidelined for the last two months with a hernia problem but was a fringe figure even before his latest injury.

The former Middlesbrough star, a favourite of ex-manager Marcelo Bielsa, has been plagued by injuries during his time at Elland Road.

He was awarded a contract extension in January even though he has made only 82 appearances in nearly five years at the club.

The midfielder is now on the comeback trail and was close to being in contention for the Saturday trip to Tottenham, which resulted in a 4-3 defeat.

Midfield has not been a concern for Jesse Marsch’s side despite recent struggles for form – as summer signings Adams and Roca have been impressive despite Leeds’ lowly berth.
