Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips has been told "we will get you to Liverpool" by one leading agency in the latest development over his future, Football Insider understands.

Fresh doubts have emerged over the 26-year-old's Elland Road future in recent days after our pundit Danny Mills revealed in these pages that he's been told Phillips "is just about to change or has changed agents".

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the England international has been told by some of the biggest agents in the game they have the connections to seal him a move to a Champions League giant.

One is believed to have told Phillips "we'll get you to Liverpool, wherever you like" in an eye-opening sales pitch.

The major agencies have been circling the England star for some time with his long-term future up in the air.

He has been represented since his professional breakthrough by former Leeds player Kevin Sharp, who tweeted last week (28 February) he thought Marcelo Bielsa would keep the club in the Premier League.

That prompted new speculation over the future of his star client, who has yet to agree terms on a new contract with the club he has spent his entire career.

But it did not hint at the tug of war behind the scenes to represent one of the most in-demand English players around.

Phillips has missed the last three months due to injury after starring for England in their run to last summer's Euro 2020 final.

But his reputation remains high and sources have told Football Insider he is valued at around the £70m mark by Leeds.

His current contract runs until the summer of 2024.
