Leeds United to post record-breaking revenue as £85m boost revealed

Leeds United are expected to post a new club-record revenue at Elland Road this season.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the Yorkshire giants’ turnover could improve by around £85million compared to last season.

Leeds posted their latest accounts for 2024-25 earlier this month, showing their revenue improved from £128m in 2023-24 to £137m in their promotion-winning campaign.

Daniel Farke’s side have moved a step closer to securing their Premier League status for another season after beating Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford on Monday (13 April).

Leeds’ finances would receive a significant boost if they remain in the top flight, with the club currently sitting 15th in the table and six points above the relegation zone.

Why Leeds’ revenue is set to exceed £200m

In terms of last season’s numbers, improved commercial revenue was a key reason behind the £9m increase in turnover.

Leeds’ commercial income surged from £43m in 2023-24 to £58m last season, with 49ers Enterprises looking to maximise sponsorship opportunities at Elland Road.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed whether Leeds could beat their club-record revenue this season, with the figure standing at £190m in 2022-23.

“Even if they finish in the bottom three, you can probably add another £75m on top on broadcast compared to last season,” said Borson.

“You’d think they’ve sharpened commercial, but let’s say they end up with another £10m, so you’re probably looking at £85m.

“Matchday would be broadly the same because there are more games in the Championship. Obviously, when you get promotion, everybody loves it and turns up, so it doesn’t really make that much difference whichever division you’re in if you win the Championship and get promotion.

“I suspect you’re looking at £85m, which will take them over £200m for this season.”

Why Leeds are set for another prize money boost

Premier League survival isn’t the only aim for Farke’s side heading into the final weeks of the campaign.

Leeds secured a dramatic win over West Ham in the FA Cup quarter-finals, providing them with a further boost in prize money and matchday income for this season.

The Whites will now take on Chelsea at Wembley later this month for a place in the FA Cup final against either Man City or Southampton.

However, games against Wolves and Bournemouth are set to take place before the semi-final clash as Leeds look to move a step closer to Premier League survival.
