Leo Scienza could be about to force his way out of Southampton, and Leeds United could be the main beneficiaries this summer.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a Premier League switch, no matter whether the Saints earned promotion to the top tier, boasting seven goals and 10 assists in an impressive campaign.

Multiple clubs have been keeping tabs on the winger, not least during his FA Cup displays against Arsenal and Manchester City, and it is safe to say that a move away from St Mary’s Stadium is imminent.

Leeds’ transfer chiefs have certainly been keeping a close eye on Scienza, and they may have just been given the green light to secure his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.

The footballing world has had its eyes glued to the ongoings at St Mary’s Stadium, with Tonda Eckert’s Southampton side now booted out of the Championship play-off final due to Spygate.

It is understood that the players are considering legal action due to the situation, and Scienza is especially “heartbroken” after being unable to fire the Saints back to the Premier League.

He has summed up his emotions as “disappointment, anger, sadness” on social media after their appeal against the punishments were rejected, also describing the Premier League as a “dream” for him.

This would suggest that he’s ready for a push away from St James’ Park, and Football Insider understands that Leeds are huge admirers of Scienza. His club may now have no other choice but to accept a deal.

Leeds United face fierce competition from Aston Villa

Football Insider has revealed that Aston Villa have also joined the race for the 27-year-old’s signature, and after winning the Europa League, a switch to Villa Park could be more desirable.

While the Brazilian is naturally a left winger, his ability to use both feet makes him a great option anywhere across the front line. Unai Emery would have multiple uses for him.

Of course, there is no guarantee that the Villans can keep hold of the likes of Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins, so more firepower will be critical if the club are to compete next season.

Leeds will be doing everything in their power to beat their Premier League rivals to Scienza’s signature, but there are likely to be several more teams joining the race over the coming weeks.
