Kieran Maguire: Leeds United to generate American buzz as Jesse Marsch pictures emerge
Leeds United can use Jesse Marsch’s links to the United States to generate interest across the pond.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Marsch’s Stateside commercial appeal.
The 48-year-old recently visited the San Francisco 49ers’ summer training camp, as reported by Leeds Live earlier this month (11 June).
The manager, who spent the entirety of his playing career in the United States and has two caps for the national team, was pictured speaking to several of the 49ers’ top players and staff.
The NFL outfit currently own 44 per cent of Leeds and have the option for a full takeover.
And Maguire suggests that Leeds can market Marsch’s American connections to their advantage.

“They might have done some background checks in terms of his experience,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Wiliams.
“He was in the MLS before he went to Europe. If he turns out to be a success, there are technical benefits. Leeds can leverage on that through the 49ers link in the American market.
“We’ll have to wait and see because American fans want to be associated with success. If he delivers, I think there will be an opportunity to expand interest and revenues off the back of that.”
Leeds begin their pre-season tour of Australia on 14 July.
They narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the Premier League season in 2021-22.
