Leeds United told to accept Archie Gray offer after source's update - 'Take the money', says pundit

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Leeds United should sell Archie Gray this January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham and Scotland striker Frank McAvennie suggested the Whites should cash in on the 17-year-old this winter with a view to loan him back for the remainder of the season.

Leeds

Gray has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Crystal Palace have dispatched scouts to watch the England youth international while Football Insider also revealed (13 November) that Everton are tracking his progress.

McAvennie claims Gray, who has played all but one game for Leeds this season, is not quite ready for regular top-flight action but his proposal would be a "win-win" for all.

"I think what they've got to do is sell him," he told Football Insider.

"Take the money, but keep him on loan. He's not going to get into the Liverpool team, he's not going to get into the Everton team at the moment.

"It's the best thing for everyone. It's a long way to the end of the season and his value may go up.

"I don't think anyone is going to buy him in January. I wouldn't imagine if he's doing that well unless you spend decent money.

"If he's not ready for the Premier League, whoever's wanting him, come and get him now and loan him back.

"That's what I would try and do because then you get some money for January. It's a win-win for them. Farke will know what he needs."
