Bielsa told to axe rotten James and replace him with 'frightening' Leeds teen - pundit
Marcelo Bielsa should axe Dan James replace him with the “frightening” Joe Gelhardt in the Leeds United starting XI, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed James “end product is so bad” and he has to “up his game” if he wants to retain his place in the Leeds side.
The winger has featured in every Premier League game for the Whites since signing for the club from Man United over the summer.
Gelhardt, 19, announced himself last month by winning the stoppage-time penalty that salvaged Leeds a point against Wolves.
He was then again introduced from the bench in the Carabao Cup game against Arsenal before being an unused substitute in the win over Norwich City.
“I was very surprised [Gelhardt did not come on],” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Dan James, for me, I’m not sure about him. His end product is so bad. Yes, he’s got pace but that’s all he’s got. He doesn’t score goals, he doesn’t get assists, he can’t really cross.
“I just look at him and think he has to up his game. When you’ve got youngsters that are looking so frightening, before you know it, you’re out of the team.
“Dan James needs to do better, Jack Harrison has been poor this season. He kept giving the ball away [against Norwich] and looked very poor again.
“I’m sure Bielsa was over the moon that Raphinha’s available and he is the one who has been available.”
Gelhardt has featured in four games across all competitions for Leeds this season.
However, the teenager is yet to make his first start for the Yorkshire giants.
