Leeds United have been keeping close tabs on Bournemouth keeper Aaron Ramsdale ahead of the summer, Football Insider can reveal.

The England Under-21 international is a firm target for the Yorkshire giants amid doubt over the future of the club's number one Kiko Casilla.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Ramsdale, 21, is on their keeper shortlist if they get promoted at the end of this season.

United scouts have been closely assessing the rising star in the last two campaigns, including when he was on loan at AFC Wimbledon last season.

Much will depend upon whether Bournemouth are in the Premier League next season.

The Cherries are unlikely to be willing to let Ramsdale go, or the player himself want to leave, if they stay up.

But Eddie Howe's side face a major battle for survival when the Premier League season resumes, as they are in 18th position in the table.

Ramsdale has taken over as the Bournemouth first choice this season and started 28 of their 29 league games, with 40-year-old Artur Boruc on the bench.

Leeds' pursuit comes amid uncertainty over whether Casilla will still be at the club next season.

He has returned to Spain after being hit with an eight-match FA racism ban and 20-year-old Illan Meslier has started the last two Championship matches.

Football Insider pundits including Danny Mills, Noel Whelan and Alex Bruce - all former Leeds players - have expressed their doubts about Meslier being the number one if the team are in the Premier League next season.
